Ab Tak Chhapan 2 (Eng: So Far Fifty Six II) is a sequel of the film Ab Tak Chappan released in 2004. (The success of the Ist film is the inspiration behind the production of the second one). Aejaz directed film, while Nilesh Girkar done the scripting. The film stars Nana Patekar in lead role with Gul Panag, Ashutosh Rana, Mohan Agashe, Vikram gokhale and Ashutosh Rana in supporting roles. As told it is the sequel of the previous film by this name and it starts from where the previous film ends. This is the story of an encounter specialist Sadhu Agashe (Nana Patekar). He suffered a lot in order to defend his claim and suppress the enemies. Sadhu Agashe is leading a calm life now in a remote place from Bombay. He had given up all his previous good and bad memories and leading a life with his only son. He lost his wife, which was unbearable to him, and he knows clearly that the enemies are always behind him. The police department has a profound believe in him and he had done such a significant job while he was in service. But after his retirement the number of crimes increased in Mumbai city and none was able to counteract it successfully. The police deparment sought the help of ex-police commissioner's help to convince Sadhu to come back to his old role and extinguish criminal gangsters who are very active in present time. For his astonishment his son also supported him to join again and fight against the criminals. As he started his mission two notorious gangs turned against him and killed his son. They planned to kill the CM of the state and thus to create riots in the country. But Sadhu was a well experienced and intelligent officer and he sketched a plan to fasten the culprits. But all of his outlines were rewritten by the gansters and there was enemies for him from inside his camp itself. Could he save the CM from the disaster? Who was behind all these illegal activities? Is there any political giant behind this clutter? The story progresses excitingly to an unexpected climax answering to all these questions. The film received mixed to positive reviews and it was a successful film at the box office. The Ist part of the film was a huge hit and this time it could not carry it out again. But as before Nana patekar stealed the show with his brilliant performance and others especially Gul panag has nothing to do with this film and her role ended up with no response. Some of the scenes in this film is shot in a splendid manner and the film is vigorous enough to hold the viewers to their seats till the end with its flow unbreaking till the end. Though the film is based on the life of a police constable, Daya Nayak, who in real life was a true encounter specialist, the film couldn't make justice to him fully and in some parts of the film it skips from reality and falls flat on the ground. Any way it is a watchable good film for the present times.
